informal entry
An informal entry may be filed when the invoice value of the import shipment is less than $2,500. Certain trade sensitive commodities cannot be entered with an informal entry even if the value is less than $2,500.

Doral Customs Brokers can assist you to determine if your shipment qualifies for an informal entry.  As your Miami customs broker, we can file your informal entry at any South Florida port of entry for any air or ocean shipment from anywhere in the world to the US. Informal entries are faster to process, easier to document, and do not require a bond. However, it is important to classify your shipment accurately since there are items that do not qualify for an informal entry.

Goods may be entered to the US under these main classifications:

  • Shipments entered for consumption
  • Shipments entered for warehouse
  • Shipments entered in-bond

Each type of entry  has are guidelines and regulations that must be followed in order to clear the shipment through US customs.

For consumption entries, the following minimum documentation is required in order for us to classify and clear your shipment:

  • Power of attorney
  • Invoice showing detailed description of your shipment and the contents
  • Packing list
  • Bill of lading or airway bill
  • OGA (Other government agencies) may have other requirements such as permits and licenses
